Job Description The Structural Designer will be responsible for gathering and organizing information necessary for developing design and drawings. This role involves generating 3D models for equipment and steel, laying out new equipment arrangements, and collaborating across disciplines such as mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation. The Structural Designer will handle design package software issues both internally and externally, assist with the assembly and review of design packages, manage intelligent P&ID projects from concept to completion, and generate isometrics, plan & elevation drawings, and bills of material. Participation in 3D model design reviews and preparation of detailed layout drawings and sketches are also required. Responsibilities
- Gather and organize information for developing the design and drawings.
- Generate 3D models for equipment and steel.
- Layout new equipment arrangements.
- Collaborate with mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
- Handle design package software issues internally, externally, and with software providers.
- Assist with the assembly and review of design packages.
- Manage intelligent P&ID projects from concept to completion.
- Generate isometrics, plan & elevation drawings, bills of material, etc.
- Participate in 3D model design reviews.
- Prepare detailed layout drawings and sketches using theoretical and practical engineering and design knowledge.
- Support the Project Manager or Lead Designer in achieving project goals and milestones.
- Maintain strict, aggressive project schedules.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Process 3D Laser Scanning data.
- Travel domestically and internationally, ranging from 0-5% per year.
- Develop and maintain relationships with employees across all locations.
- Conduct activities in a safe, clean, and healthy manner in accordance with established safety and company requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Structural design expertise.
- Drafting and design structural details of process/piping equipment.
- Experience with design package software such as re-cap.
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Drafting, CAD, or Industrial Design.
- 5+ years of experience in piping, mechanical, or industrial design.
