The Purchasing Supervisor role is a leadership position that will focus on the procurement of a diverse group of Non-Produciton Commodities including MRO, Facilities, Services, Transportation, Equipment, Consumables, Utiltiies, Packaging, Software, and Aftermarket Parts. This role is responsible for developing and executing commodity strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating complex contracts, driving cost savings, and operational efficiency. The position requires strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, project management, and a deep understanding of procurement best practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Develop and implement commodity strategies for assigned commodities.
Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals through coaching, aligning, and developing, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
Build and manage supplier relationships, including performance reviews and risk mitigation.
Negotiate and manage complex contracts, ensuring cost, quality, and delivery requirements are consistently achieved.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Operations, Maintenance, Shipping, Customer Service, Shipping, Finance, etc.) to align procurement goals with business objectives.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and procurement process development & optimization.
Monitor and analyze spend data to identify trends, savings opportunities, and strategic insights.
Lead cross-functional sourcing projects and manage RFP/RFQ processes.
Deliver annual cost savings and efficiency gains.
Ensure adherence to Bennington procurement policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.
Oversee Tool Crib and Shop Supplies Vending Machine Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Program.
Analyze market trends to mitigate cost and delivery risks.
Develop and implement performance metrics for purchasing activities including supplier, team, financial, and operations.
Monitor inventory levels to ensure an optimal balance of supply and demand, including leading demand and inventory planning with suppliers and supplier tiers.
Maintain and present materials related to Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
Contribute to Bennington's cultural vision including but not limited to a creating a positive working environment with teammates and leadership, taking initiative and ownership.
Lead the team in continuous improvement opportunities through lean initiatives.
Anticipate the needs of the business and have plans in place to support when those needs arise.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, or related field preferred.
Marine industry experience/knowledge desired.
3+ years of purchasing or relevant experience (purchasing, procurement, sourcing, operations, etc.) preferred.
1+ years of leadership/supervisory experience required or an experienced and proven leader who has the demonstrated ability to build effective teams and deliver results.
Strong working knowledge of an ERP system including purchase orders, price changes, and purchase order maintenance, material requirements, and delivery schedules.
Demonstrated leadership ability to set goals, delegate and motivate team to achieve those goals.
Excellent leadership skill in motivating, training, and developing individuals and teams.
Excellent written & verbal communication within team and cross-functionally
Supervise a diverse team in a fast-paced working environment to include training, support, discipline, and performance tracking.
Ability to understand basic engineering documents & drawings (eDrawings and AutoCAD Viewer).
Ability to lead, interface and work effectively with other departments.
Consistently performs well under a variety of conditions and constraints.
Ability to develop, implement and drive change in purchasing and materials management.
Ability to drive accountability throughout the organization.
Excellent attention to detail.
High analytical skills with ability to accurately track materials spend, interpret trends, summarize results, and create reports.
