San Luis Powerhouse serves a wide variety of clients providing generator repair and maintenance to essential and critical infrastructure needs. Our clients rely on us to ensure that when the power goes out, there generator comes on so they can still perform their operations.

The ideal Generator Technician candidate should have 3+ years of professional repair/mechanical, automotive/diesel technician experience. Our team will look to the Generator Technician to problem-solve and manage tasks independently. The Generator Technician will use their technical skill-set to complete work efficiently, on-time, and in line with our strong company values. This position is a combination of shop and field work, so the Generator Technician must feel confident in communicating with our clients and offering quality service to the community.
We value hard work and compensate accordingly for it, so this position is full time, hourly and includes benefits and paid days off. We are vital to keeping many essential services running day in and day out regardless of current events and can provide a steady and reliable long-term career.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide field service repair work, which includes but are not limited to:
oRegular generator testing, inspections, repair and maintenance.
oPreventative maintenance including oil and filter changes, tune ups etc.
oOccasional overtime and after-hours call out for trouble shooting and emergency repairs.
oDiagnose and repair: diesel, gasoline, and gas engine performance issues.
oAC electrical diagnosis and repair.
oDC control circuits diagnosis and repair.
Provide in shop testing, maintenance, and repair of generators and industrial engines. This includes but is not limited to:
oPortable generator testing, service, and repair.
oOn board RV generator testing, service, and repair.
oEngine driven welder testing, service, and repair.
oDiagnose and repair: diesel, gasoline, and gas engine performance issues.
oAC electrical diagnosis and repair.
oDC control circuits diagnosis and repair.
Consult electronic & paper manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and correspond with engineering personnel to accurately diagnose and repair equipment problems. From engine performance to electrical and wiring.
Determine optimum equipment function according to the manufacturers specifications.
Utilize computer to track and document the following records:
oTime and materials on each project.
oDetailed written explanation of diagnosis and repairs to be added to shop database.
oConsult manufacturers documentation for parts look up.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of professional mechanical experience and/or education. (This is a must)
Good clean DMV driving record. (This is a must)
Ability to pass drug, alcohol, and background screenings on a regular basis. (This is a must)
Automotive, truck, and diesel repair experience is a definite plus.
Generator specific experience is highly desirable.
Comfortable and proficient with computers, internet research and database maintenance.
Basic electrical experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Able to complete physically demanding tasks. I.E. sitting or standing for extended periods, lifting over 50 pounds, working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Climbing.
Ability to drive safely and in a professional manner.
Ability to drive in various weather conditions and sometimes at night to perform various job functions as required.
Ability to tow and back up a trailer.
