Job Description Purpose
The Senior Electrical Engineer will apply engineering knowledge and provide support to the Facilities & Utilities team in our North Chicago site. This role will also assist with overseeing global projects and provide technical direction on electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Reviewthe design of electrical power system infrastructure, equipment, back-up power and provide guidance to comply with the AbbVie Standards and Specifications, applicable international code compliance and best practice. Generate and/or update standards for Electrical Systems for the Global Engineering Assurance Team.
- Remain knowledgeable on the latest regulatory guidance and industry best practices for electrical power systems including but not limited to: skidded equipment, electrical infrastructure, backup power systems, lighting systems.
- Provide technical direction on global capital projects through all phases of project execution from conceptual engineering to detailed engineering to installation and commissioning including but not limited to detailed system description narratives, one-line diagrams, Arc Flash, Short Circuit and Coordination studies.
- Provide technical direction to equipment suppliers on equipment selection based on project requirements.
- Leadfactory acceptance tests and/or site acceptance tests for equipment.
- Develop and present continuing education topics internally.
- Troubleshoot power distribution systems and support commissioning activities.
- Evaluate and Present electric utility infrastructure options.
- Work within regulated pharmaceutical environment with potential to support campus, commercial, manufacturing, and laboratory environments.
- Build strong relationships with peers and cross functionally with partners outside of team to enable higher performance.
- Createa learning environment, open to suggestions and experimentation for improvement.
- Embracethe ideas of others, nurturinginnovation and managinginnovation to reality.
- Developand implement a vision of how these systems should be designed and standardized across the company to best meet the needs of AbbVie.
- Facility, Equipment, and Utilities SME responsibilities during Regulatory Agencies Audits. Responsible of preparing documentation packages and presenting information in front of regulatory agents.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, science, or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence, with a desired 6+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience. A post-graduate education/degree is desired, and may contribute towards the desired years of experience.
- Demonstrated competency in Power Distribution.
- Possesses a strong technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures.Works on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors. Demonstrates judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Experience in Power Infrastructure design and installation projects scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors. Demonstrates judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Demonstrates experience working with diverse groups with technical and non-technical and can translate complex ideas to common language for non-technical entities.
- Demonstrates strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
- Experience with considering input from others' points of view and articulates tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations.
- Works well with other engineers in a collaborative, fast-paced goal-driven environment.
- Possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences.
- Demonstrated competency with financial systems and in fiscal control.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes ingood faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individualcompensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimatelypay more or less than the posted range. This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
