Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate work activities of others within the work group and department to complete structural projects
- Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees
- Utilize computer software to design all substation structures and foundations.
- Review Design Basis, Design Notes, Hazard Log, SOW, Technical Specs and Field Review Plan
- Work with electrical designers to develop structural scopes and estimates based on one-line diagrams and electrical arrangement drawings
- Review structural design drawings, fabricator detail drawings and other project documents to verify compliance with design theory, material specified and the appropriate structural codes and standards
- Make recommendations for improving structural designs, drawings or documents
- Create material requisitions and work with compare fabricators to verify lead times and cost so that correct steel is ordered and delivered pre the project schedule
- Coordinate with electrical designers and other structural team members to complete any required submittals by the project schedule
- Function as a project lead for structural projects
- Coordinate work activities of others within the work group and department to complete structural projects
- Initiate corrective action when substation project objectives are not being met
- Interpret codes and regulations applicable to project work
Education and Experience Requirements
- Minimum of four years of experience doing structural engineering, analysis, and foundation work
- Minimum of four years of experience completing engineering projects from start to finish
- Minimum of four years of experience scoping, estimating, and ordering materials for structural projects
- Bachelors Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution
- Master's Degree in Civil or Structural from an accredited institution will count towards years of experience
- A SE License is required
