The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Coordinator and Maintenance Scheduler is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining a safe, efficient, and sustainable work environment. This role integrates EH&S oversight with maintenance planning to support operational reliability and environmental responsibility in a composite manufacturing setting. The position requires collaboration across departments to promote safety, maintain regulatory standards, and optimize maintenance schedules.

Requirements

Duties & Responsibilities

Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S)

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, IDEM, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Conduct safety observations, audits, air/noise/dust sampling, and post-incident investigations.
  • Develop and implement safety plans and training programs; maintain records and track completion.
  • Monitor compliance and identify safety concerns; collaborate with all levels of the organization to resolve them.
  • Oversee the ISO 14001 environmental management system, including recycling and sustainability initiatives.
  • Manage EH&S-related vendor relationships, including waste disposal and facility services.

Maintenance Scheduling

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment and facilities.
  • Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, inventory, labor tracking, and repair costs.
  • Coordinate repair activities with the maintenance team and outside vendors to reduce downtime and costs.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 maintenance procedures and document all activities accordingly.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and procurement records to prevent disruptions in operations.
  • Collaborate in capital improvement planning and identify opportunities for process and cost improvements.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Conduct root cause analyses for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support safety and maintenance-related continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Training

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years in EH&S and industrial maintenance).
  • OSHA 10- & 30-hour certifications preferred or willingness to complete.
  • Additional safety or maintenance certifications are beneficial.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience with manufacturing equipment repair and facilities maintenance.
  • Familiarity with EH&S regulations and industrial compliance standards (OSHA, EPA, IDEM).
  • Hands-on experience with CMMS platforms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks independently and collaboratively.
  • Aptitude for analyzing data and interpreting technical documents.
  • Vendor management experience related to EH&S and maintenance contracts.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. periodically during the day.

Hours/Shifts: This is a 1st Shift position.

1st Shift: Monday through Friday 7:00am 3:00pm EST

2nd Shift: Monday through Friday 3:00pm 11:00pm EST

3rd Shift: Sunday through Friday 11:00pm 7:00am EST

Hours and shifts may vary depending on needs of the department.
