SUMMARY: Responsible for helping management select bid and pre-construction opportunities, evaluating specifications and drawings, analyzing supplier and subcontract proposals compliance, successfully estimating the total project cost, and helping management prepare final proposal documentation. Must plan for working closely with internal multidisciplinary project management teams as well as subcontractors, and being empowered to grow, take charge, and make a positive impact in a growing enterprise with local leadership and global reach offices in Florida and Puerto Rico.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze bid documents, contractor, and vendor proposals to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for construction projects. Perform conceptual estimating and prepare budget and early-stage estimates.
- Research and evaluate subcontractors based on price, quality, selection, service, support, etc. Solicit subcontractor/material supplier bid proposals.
- Perform quantity and labor take-off from on-screen construction documents. Prepare scope sheets based upon project specific requirements.
- Performs Preconstruction Services. Develops and/or understands the full parameters of the project scope.
- Provides estimating services which include conceptual, schematic, design development & construction level estimates
- Fosters positive relationships with internal and external customers, sub-contractors, and design professionals. Assist in value engineering.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in estimating commercial electrical construction and general construction.
- Experienced with Accubid and On-screen Estimating Software preferred.
- Knowledgeable in Excel, Word, and general business software use.
- Knowledge of estimating processes in the electrical trade as well as general construction estimating. with understanding of principal trades and the scheduling/sequencing of work, as well as scope interrelations of the works.
- Good communication skills written and spoken English, bilingual or some Spanish language knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to develop and maintain good business relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Attention to detail, strong organization skills and the ability to multi-task projects simultaneously.
- High standard of integrity and professionalism. Team building ability. Time and budget management.
- Able to travel and work in the different Aireko office locations as required.
