About the Role
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Plumbing & Fire Protection department in our Boston office. This role is ideal for a technically skilled and experienced engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality, innovative solutions.
The Project Engineer will play a key role in managing and executing projects, coordinating across disciplines, and maintaining strong client relationships while keeping project goals and financial performance in focus.
Responsibilities- Lead the design of tenant fit-out projects and serve as a key designer on base building and infrastructure upgrades.
- Assemble riser diagrams, equipment schedules, and floor plans; participate in specification writing.
- Establish design criteria from project proposals and develop basis of design documentation.
- Produce complete sets of contract documents for plumbing and fire protection systems, including layout of equipment rooms, closets, shafts, and risers.
- Design and document ancillary systems such as UPS, generators, fuel oil systems, secondary water pumps, and water reclamation systems.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, evaluate contractor change orders, and conduct site visits and punch lists to ensure design accuracy.
- Assist in developing efficient project schedules that optimize team resources and meet deadlines.
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 35 years of experience in plumbing and/or fire protection system design.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in design calculations and software tools such as Revit and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of trade-specific scopes, applicable codes, and coordination with other disciplines.
- Familiarity with documentation requirements and ability to develop content for all project phases (e.g., SD, DD, CD, and specifications).
