The Painter Helper assists the Manual Blast & Coat dept to prepare pipe for painting, blasting and shipment.

Certified forklift and overhead crane operator; loads and unloads pipe as needed.

Operates, reads and interprets a 25' tape measure, pi tape measure and micrometer.

Operates 4" right-angle hand grinder.

Operates overall basic hand tools, hammers, chisels, grinders, drills, etc.

Reads, understands and interprets drawings.

Reads, understands and interprets specification boundary.

Reads, understands and interprets digital readouts.

Follows all safety, policies and PPE rules, Confined Space Entry, LOTO and Fall Protection.

Enters all labor into JDE before the end of shift.

Prepares pipe for painting, blasting and shipment.

Assists with daily housekeeping activities.

Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED plus a minimum of three years of related experience to include industrial type painting. Proficiency with technical machinery.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, read and understand pipe drawings, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with supervisors and other employees.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to accurately read tape measure.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Knowledgeable of Microsoft Programs. Ability to use company computer systems to view and understand the action required from the dispatch list.

Ability to attain multiple Company Certifications.

Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English. Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints and specification boundary sheets.

Conscientious with great attention to detail. Willingness to learn new concepts, skills, and processes.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to paint that contains isocyanates, and outside weather conditions. The work is done both indoors and out. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. It involves much standing, bending, climbing, crawling and working with arms over the head.
