Job Description:
Parsons is looking for a talented Sustainability Senior Project Manager for Airports to join our team! In this role you will get to work on major airport projects in Houston, TX.
The Sustainability Manager is responsible for managing and implementing sustainability programs aimed at enhancing the airport's environmental performance. Responsible for integration of sustainable development into plans, airport actions, and capital projects. This role involves driving initiatives related to energy, water, waste, and resiliency, with a focus on achieving net-zero emissions and operational sustainability. The manager will oversee data collection and analysis for various sustainability certifications and will work collaboratively with consultants and community stakeholders to promote sustainable practices within the organization. This manager partner with various airport departments in tracking sustainability initiatives for example waste recycling with Terminal Management and Commercial Development, construction recycling, LEED, Envision initiatives with Infrastructure, Horticulture water initiatives & management, Central Utility Plant operations, Fleet initiatives with Maintenance etc.
This manager is also responsible in partnering with the resiliency manager in completing the Resiliency Master Plans (RMP) and facilitating implementation of the resiliency projects developed for IAH and HOU.
Responsible for understanding and directing the use of technology to facilitate compliance, increase performance, manage costs and manage the large amount of data generated by the program
Responsibilities
- Partner with Environmental Team in managing the implementation of sustainability programs.
- Drive progress in energy, water, waste, and resiliency initiatives.
- Develop and enhance sustainability initiatives towards net-zero emissions.
- Oversee data collection and analysis for Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) and other related programs.
- Alongside Environmental team serve as ACA technical expert resource for stakeholder coordination.
- Plan and supervise sustainability projects in collaboration with approved consultants.
- Research, collect, analyze, and document environmental and operational data.
- Create and maintain a culture of sustainable practices and awareness.
- Develop sustainability education and engagement materials for staff and the community.
- Prepare and coordinate meetings, workshops, and agency meetings.
- Manage and lead environmental and planning contractors.
- Provide updates to the Manager of Environmental Services on project activities.
- Prepare technical reports and ensure projects are completed on schedule and budget.
- Review and approve work of consultants and contractors.
- Provide professional assistance during project design phases.
- Research on regulatory and industry guidelines, benchmarks, trends impacting sustainability initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, environmental policy, urban planning, environmental engineering, public policy, or sustainability. Masters degree is preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in sustainability or a related field.
- Familiarity with green building rating systems and Envision systems is preferred.
- Broad knowledge of sustainability planning principles and practices, as well as knowledge of the FAA NEPA process.
- Ability to consult and facilitate large meetings with staff regarding research data for sustainability studies.
- Collaborate with leaders to implement processes that reduce carbon footprint.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Aviation experience is preferred.
