What can you expect?
As the Project Manager, you will work on-site and be responsible for managing projects including the development of cost estimates, coordination of bid activities, and execution of project requirements for environmental projects. You will determine necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints, and coordinate with technical professionals and field staff for successful execution.
How will you do it?
- With the support of Senior Project Managers and Program Managers, manage projects at the client and contract level.
- Develop and define criteria for projects key deliverables and continually monitor critical milestones.
- Perform project cost estimating and value engineering as appropriate.
- Ensure projects stay aligned to the expected goals and deliver the planned benefits.
- Oversee daily management of field projects including monitoring and coordinating work by field staff and subcontractors.
- Manage logistic requirements for field projects.
- Responsible for cost, schedule, quality control management and customer satisfaction.
- Identify, analyze and prepare for project risks and ensure compliance with quality, safety and security processes.
- Attend site visits to determine scope and accuracy of contract and planning documents and; may require multi-day visits and/or overnight stay.
- Review project plans and specifications and coordinate with the team to confirm complete scope.
- Review general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, site logistics and other exhibits.
- Review labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to self-perform or subcontract.
- Prepare instructions for subcontractors with bid solicitation information and solicits subcontractor information & pricing.
- Solicit vendor quotes and perform analysis for incorporation into project estimate and assists in the procurement and tracking of materials.
- Prepare project estimates and ensure all factors are properly considered, scheduled, priced and included in the estimate.
- Responsible for review of estimates prepared by others, for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
- Assist in the development of project budgets and estimates to complete.
- Oversee records management of project cost history.
- Assist in the pricing of change orders or additional work.
- Ensure the flow of project information is maintained and documented.
- Maintain and communicate data on material cost trends affecting project costs.
- Communicate with clients, customers, and/or regulatory agencies through meetings, monthly reports, schedule updates, site visits, document reviews, resolution discussions, and the invoicing process to ensure project objectives are met while operating within the contract required scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Build effective relationships with customers, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meet or exceed the customers expectations.
- Lead a proactive safety culture.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Support environmental investigations and assessments in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines and as directed by Project Management staff.
- Work with technical staff in support of project objectives and field operations.
- Provide scientific and technical guidance, support, and coordination to project staff preparing written project documentation.
- Evaluate and select data collection methods and procedures to be employed in site surveys and investigations.
- Be a lead author of and provide technical/QC reviews of project documents.
- Be a technical liaison for clients and customers.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position may supervise junior staff.
- Manage the workflow of employees, creating team schedules and delegating tasks.
- Assess the work performance of employees and identify areas that need improvement.
- Ensure that business goals, deadlines, and performance standards are met.
- Train and onboarding new hires to make sure they understand their roles.
- Set goals for employees and make sure they comply with the companys plans and vision.
- Report performance records and evaluations to HR and senior management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Detailed Knowledge and understanding of RCRA, NPDES, CWA, OPPA, CAA, and other applicable laws, legal codes, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules governing environmental projects and programs.
- Knowledge of the practical application of environmental science and technology.
- Ability to use scientific rules and methods to solve problems, and logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Ability to read and understand complex contract documents.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work without direct supervision.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work productively under pressure.
- Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
Who is Brice Engineering looking for?
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in geology, physical or environmental science, or environmental engineering required.
- A broad understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Ability to travel 15-25% of the time for meetings, site visits, and occasional fieldwork.
- Valid state drivers license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Brice Engineerings Driving Policy.
- Ability to pass drug and background screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Seven to fifteen years of experience working on environmental projects.
- Professional licensure preferred.
- E Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response training with current 8-hour refresher preferred.
- Experience in federal government projects is highly desired.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The work environmental characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Brice Engineering has a fast-paced multi-tasking office environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. At times, work is performed outside of the office at indoor and outdoor job sites. Adaptability regarding schedule and design changes, and occasional overtime for immediate field support or bid processing may be necessary.
