ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The CAD Design Specialist responsible to perform the following functions:
1. Prepare drawings and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches.
a. Produce standardized work instructions to clearly show repair requirements using 2D AutoCAD.
b. Coordinate with engineering to design fixture/tooling models and blueprint drawings using SolidWorks.
2. Reviews drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
3. Organize and maintain computer files, blueprints, and plant layout drawings while following documentation control procedures.
4. Interpret and utilize geometric symbols.
5. Design and create prototype tooling using 3D printer and 3D modeling with SolidWorks.
6. Utilize 3D scanning technology to measure components and reverse engineer for new tool designs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Standard drafting practices.
2. Understanding of basic shop math and geometric tolerances as related to drawings and standard manufacturing methods.
3. Read, write, speak, understand English, and be able to communicate with other employees.
4. Ability to use Auto-CAD, Microsoft Office.
5. Basic knowledge of turbine engine component repairs and shop processes used at CRT.
Desired Qualifications:
1. Technical high school diploma or the equivalent in a trade school.
2. Ability to use SolidWorks or 3D CAD design software.
3. A minimum of 6 months of on-the-job experience with Auto-CAD and/or SolidWorks drafting and/or tooling design. Word processing software or equivalent coursework.
4. Must keep up with rapidly changing technology and drafting standards.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. Must be able to pass a vision test and a fitness-for-duty test.
2. Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
3. Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 10 lbs.
4. Able to manually operate office equipment.
5. Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
