Position Summary

The Pump Operator ensures public health and safety by preventing and responding to sewage overflows and blockages. This role involves operating and maintaining lift stations, inspecting and repairing the wastewater collection system, and ensuring all equipment functions properly and efficiently. The Pump Operator is crucial in monitoring the system using SCADA on iPads, ensuring the pumping facilities are clean and operational, and providing excellent customer service. This position is vital in maintaining the districts commitment to reliable and safe wastewater services.

Essential Functions:

- System Monitoring and Maintenance:

Ensure lift stations and collections system are operating within parameters and free flowing, conducting daily checks and maintenance tasks. Monitor and record daily readings such as amperage, pump hours, and site conditions using Fast Field on company-issued iPads. Ensuring all grounds of the lift stations are clean and properly maintained.

- Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

Operate and maintain various vehicles and equipment, such as service trucks, dump trucks, jet trailers, skid steers, and excavators, ensuring they are in optimal working condition. Perform necessary repairs and preventive maintenance on the wastewater collection system.

- Regulatory Compliance:

Conduct all operations in accordance with TCEQ regulations, preparing and submitting necessary reports to demonstrate compliance. Utilize the SCADA system to monitor and record daily activities, ensuring proper documentation and submission of compliance reports.

- Safety and Emergency Response:

Perform work in confined spaces, taking necessary precautions to ensure safety by using air quality monitors and ventilators. Respond to emergency calls, including after-hours and weekend assignments, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.

- Customer Interaction and Support:

Provide courteous customer service, responding to inquiries and addressing issues related to sewer maintenance work. Communicate effectively with property occupants and the public regarding sewer maintenance activities.

- Technical and Physical Work:

Operate closed-circuit televising inspection systems to identify blockages and damages in underground sewer lines. Set up traffic control devices, ensuring public and crew safety during maintenance operations.

**Education:**

- **Required:**High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
