Estimator/Technology Information

  • Elite Form Metal Products
  • Houston, Texas
  • Full Time
Elite Form Metal Products is a manufacturing facility that uses G-code to give demands to robots such as a coil line, plasma cutter, spiral machine and 3 axis lathes. This requires codes to

me written, overlooked and given to the shop to mass produce commercial hvac components. Below is a picture of the G-code written as well as the layout of the plasma cutter showing the process to what will be cut. Next requirement for this job description is the factory has 6 computers throughout the business. That all have a different focus but must be able to share files from one to the other to be able to perform a complete order. For example, once the design for a part is created, the G-code is on a job number that is strictly on a graphic computer, now that job number must share the file to the plasma computer to be able to tell the robot when and where it needs to cut thru the sheet to successfully and precisely manufacture a two dimensional layout. Following the layout being cut there is automatic benders that must know exactly the dimensions required, and the type of material to gauge what kind of force and speed the machine must give. Lastly, once the part is bent the assembly process begins, this might require crimping, spot welding, tig welding, solder welding, or lock former. The type of projects that are worked on are any type of building that is not a house, customers present to us blueprints of pre-construction jobsites, we elaborate and make a strategy to deliver all duct work to the building for construction companies to build. For example, high rise buildings all around the nation, retail stores, hotels, and any warehouse. Elite Form Metal Products is a plant where all materials are created in house and the employees that work for Elite are required to work the 40-55 hours a week at the factory. The company does not go on field duties, the product at which the employee would be working on rectangular duct, hvac fittings, spiral duct, welded steel, aluminum guards, and stainless steel components.

With additional personnel to design, compute the G-code, and with estimation this will allow me as a manufacturing engineer to have more available time to focus on maintaining machines, grabbing more data from each of our assembly lines to ensure that productivity is being improved and minimizing errors of bad batches of product. At the moment si I have the responsibility of doing all these things I cannot emphasize enough time on the flow and maintaining the factory.

Below is the process that is used to estimate, a PDF is provided of the blueprint and it is up to the estimator to read thru the specifications to determine whether something is insulated, the type of rooftop unit being used, and placing the proper parts on the file to provide a report which is then placed into a contract for customers to review and proceed with an order.
