Position Overview
Aspen Midstream is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry Level GIS Technician / CAD Drafter to join our team in Dallas, TX. This role supports engineering, operations, and land departments by producing high-quality maps and drawings to support the planning, design, and maintenance of pipeline and facility infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain CAD drawings and GIS maps for pipeline routes, facilities, and related infrastructure.
- Assist with the integration of survey data, as-built drawings, and engineering records into GIS/CAD systems.
- Provide drafting support for permit applications, construction plans, and engineering designs.
- Work closely with project engineers, land agents, and field personnel to gather and update data.
- Utilize 3rd party data providers to research, analyze, and organize data, to prepare and maintain maps and data products to support commercial growth.
- Produce and maintain drawing, map, report, and visualization deliverables and for internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Maintain spatial files and databases and ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy.
- Other data management, data entry, and map creation as directed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree or technical certificate in GIS, Drafting, Engineering Technology, Geography, or related field.
- Experience or training in GIS (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap) and CAD (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with spatial data formats and coordinate systems.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness to learn industry standards and regulations related to pipeline systems.
Preferred:
- Internship or project experience in oil & gas, utilities, or civil infrastructure.
- Familiarity with GPS data collection, survey data, or field mapping tools.
- Knowledge of FERC and PHMSA regulations related to pipeline mapping.
- Experience with Python, ModelBuilder, or other GIS automation tools is a plus.
