MGP Ingredients, Inc. produces flour, starch, protein, alcohol, and feed. The production plant operates 24 hours per day - 7 days per week.
- Knowledge and ability to learn electrical work. Have working knowledge of National Electrical Code.
- Must pass Instrument/Electrical Journeyman entrance level qualification test. Know how to test circuit and/or object to ensure it is de-energized.
- Be able to draw basic flow diagrams
- Correctly operate the following test equipment: Volt-ohm meter; Ammeter; Megger; TIC meter; MA calibrator
- Troubleshoot/Tune instrument control loop.
- Perform/troubleshoot the following:
FVNR 3 phase 460 vac starter; Ladder diagrams; Change rotation of a 3 phase motor; Size heaters for 3 phase motor; Size fuses for 3 phase motor; Locate open, ground, short 1 phase; 3 phase 230/460 vac D.C. motors.
- Ability to change out and calibrate the following transmitters:
Temperature; Pressure; Magmeter; pH; Conductivity; Turbine meter; Density meter; Orifice flow D/P
- Be able to program, tune, operate, troubleshoot and repair the following equipment:
SLC 100/150/500 and PLC 5 programmable controllers; All starter types (Wye-Delta, Reversible, Two Speed, Soft); Air Compressor controls; Chiller/Air Conditioner controls; All types of motors; Vary speed Controllers AC and DC;Light fixtures of all types
Required Skills:
- Ability to see colors
- Ability to operate multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work under pressure of deadlines.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills. Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions. Operators are required to maintain manual and automated records and must be able to communicate over a radio.
- Mathematical skills required. Algebra and trigonometry background helpful.
- Mechanical skills required. Monitor and maintain equipment. Perform routine maintenance as needed. Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled.
- Knowledge of computers. Ability to enter required data on computers. Ability to operate computer controlled features in the plant.
- Ability to handle hazardous chemicals such as alcohol, caustic, acids, etc.
- Ability to climb and work in high places and/or from ladders, roofs, etc.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and dusty environments
- Ability to work in temperature extremes, both hot and cold, not only due to weather, but also due to plant processes
- Ability to obtain and maintain current license for trucks, bobcats and forklifts
- Must operate in a safe, efficient and productive manner. Wear personal protective equipment as required, including full-face respirator, fall protection, etc.
- 24/7 Plant; Shift work required; Overtime required.
Requires passing score on personnel testing and mechanical testing conducted at MGP Ingredients.
Must pass Electrical Journeyman pre-requisite test.
