JOB SUMMARY: The Estimator is responsible for determining the costing of customized metal/wood composite tables, display fixtures, cabinets and millwork for the food service and other retail environments. Ensure quality and timely completion of project assignments meeting estimating deadlines and internal review dates. This includes but is not limited to dealing with shop leads and department heads determine the labor that goes into each project. Analyze, develop, and improve the estimating processes through waste reduction, cost down operations, standardization, etc.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to the cost down effort for customized metal/wood composite tables, cabinets and millwork for the food service and other retail environments
- Ensure that materials and labor are fully and correctly defined using Excel spreadsheets.
- Develop accurate Bill of Materials
- Contribute to Design for manufacturing review meetings on major new projects
- Provide data in meetings held over new products and estimating opportunities.
- Process production drawings for materials and specs in order to get correct material costing.
- Report on post production analysis of new projects: Assist with determination of actual costs, process feedback from manufacturing.
- Help in finding VA/VE cost reduction re-design opportunities
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
- Must display proficient product design skills and 3D CAD skills
- Must have strong communication and written skills working in a team environment. This includes follow-up on project status
- Will have strong technical analytical and reasoning skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 0 to 2 years of estimating experience in a manufacturing or industrial plant
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Must be proficient in Excel.
- Experience with metal cutting, forming, welding, and fabrication. Experience with CNC wood cutting, laminating, milling and millwork assembly is a plus
