Job Description Summary

The Licensed Electrician is responsible for C&W-maintained equipment to include direct replacement of electrical equipment, electrical testing of existing equipment, replacement of ballasts and lamps, installation of new power poles, and low voltage wiring feeds. This position does include new installations, capital projects, and projects outside of the preventive maintenance program. This is a working position to include performing preventive maintenance on all electrical equipment and may also include maintenance or periodic testing and inspection of all Generators, Air Compressors, Uninterruptible power systems (UPS) and HVAC equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Install electrical equipment and components in a neat and professional manner, in accordance with the National Electric Code, and local building codes.

Install power poles, lighting, signal, communication, power circuits, and equipment.

Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment or components using suitable troubleshooting testing instruments.

Examine and test elements of electrical systems to locate faults, such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and worn motor brushes.

Replace faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators, and other elements of electrical systems, fixtures and applications.

Install conduit, wiring, receptacles, switches and fixtures for existing applications as directed.

Replace defective equipment parts such as gears, bushings and bearings, other related electrical parts.

Replace lamps and ballasts as required.

Adhere to established electrical work order preventive maintenance schedules.

Performs periodic testing and inspection of all Generators, Air Compressors, Uninterruptible power systems and other equipment.

Maintains and updates inspection forms.

Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.

  • Complete work orders as assigned.
  • Ability to select the correct materials to complete work assignments.
  • Must be willing to participate in work not directly related to electrical when required.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned by site management

REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education and/or Experience):

  • Possess a clean and valid state drivers license
  • Possess a current Masters or Journeyman Electricians License
  • Possess any federal, state or municipality required license to perform electrical work (if applicable)
  • Understand state and local building codes, and know OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency, and other electrical regulations
  • Heavy lifting over 50 pounds, climbing ladders, enclosed spaces, etc.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Possess the ability to communicate technical information to the client and coworkers effectively to promote efficiency and safety
  • Capable of analyzing and solving problems with various electrical controls and systems
  • Possess a high school diploma or an approved GED.

Minimum of five years experience performing electrical repairs and maintenance

Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, AC and DC motor power and control methods, all facets of cabling and raceway systems, blueprint reading, mathematics, and preventive/predictive maintenance.

Outstanding communication and customer service skills

Must be willing to continue training in their skill set to maintain knowledge in the latest equipment and technologies in their assigned duties.

Have the ability and willingness to work overtime and participate in on-call rotation and support after hours events
