This Opportunity We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer I to join our team! You will be responsible for performing on-site remediation system operation and maintenance (O&M) tasks. This position involves regular site visits to monitor and optimize remediation systems, ensuring their continuous and efficient operation. Your Key Responsibilities Perform local remediation system O&M tasks including routine site visits, system operational checks, system and groundwater sampling, system trouble shooting and operational adjustments, system cleanings and maintenance work. Provide general labor, technical, engineering, and geological field support on various environmental site assessments; onsite investigations of contaminated soil, sediment and groundwater; construction observation; and preparation of drilling logs, geologic maps, cross-sections and technical reports. Prepare accurate field notes, paperwork, sketches, and other forms of documents as needed. Provide oversight of subcontractors and communicate with project managers. Observe drilling and monitoring well installation, classifying soil and bedrock samples, and collect samples for field screening and laboratory analysis. Accurately prepare soil boring logs, hydrographs, groundwater contour maps, field notes, sketches and other documentation of actions undertaken during site investigation and remediation projects. Supervise the correct installation of soil borings, monitoring wells, recovery wells (vapor phase and water) and treatment systems. Oversee the proper excavation of contaminated soil during remediation and construction projects. Communicate effectively with internal and external customers in a courteous and professional manner. Who You Are Required Qualifications BS in Engineering 0 to 3 years of experience in engineering role Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook 40-hour HAZWOPER or ability to obtain one in 30 days Able to obtain site access to secure areas such as Federal or State sites. Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook Ability to work independently Driver's license and ability to get to a site 24/7 Exceptional problem-solving skills, effective time-management, and strong organizational skills Interest in hands on work, mechanical and technical skills and troubleshooting. Must be comfortable performing a variety of hands on tasks, including mechanical system troubleshooting, light plumbing and electrical work, mechanical repair. Ability to travel up to 25% Experience with field equipment such as water quality monitoring instruments, photoionization detectors (PIDs), and Trimble global positioning systems (GPS) units Thorough understanding of current groundwater and soil sampling methods Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations and laws, including, but not limited to, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) cleanup guidance and United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Physical Requirements Repetitive motions: substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers (including reaching) Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs. over an 8-hour period and occasionally up to 50 lbs. over a four-hour period. Ability to work outside in varying conditions, such as high heat, high humidity and extreme cold in remote locations.
