**SALARY:**Grade 27
Sch A: $35.19 (entry step)
Sch B: $41.66 (entry step)
Salaries are subject to adjustment and may increase and decrease each fiscal year. New employees hired by Washoe County School District are normally placed on the entry step of the grade of the position.

**SUMMARY:**
Under general direction, administers, supervises and coordinates activities of workers, plans, coordinates, schedules, inspects and supervises the repair work and preventive maintenance of the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems and their related components District-wide; performs senior journey level maintenance and repair work of the HVAC systems; trains District employees in the operation, repair and maintenance of the HVAC systems; and maintains operational and administrative records and reports. Incumbent performs related work and special assignments as required.
**MINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:**
Education/Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills could be:
1. Five (5) years of varied journey level experience with building heating, ventilating, air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, boilers, and their associated controls preferably with one (1) year of supervisory experience.
OR
2. Equivalent to completion of a recognized building HVAC apprenticeship program or graduation from an accredited trade or technical school with major course work in building HVAC systems, boilers, and their controls.
AND
3. Three (3) years of verifiable work experience under a licensed contractor performing varied and complex HVAC, boilers and their associated controls installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
Knowledge of: Techniques, procedures and tools used for advanced journey level mechanical maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, boilers and their associated components and controls; State and local codes and regulations applicable to installation, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems and boilers; knowledge of Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Direct Digital Controls (DDC); and related hazards and safety precautions.
Skilled at: Working independently; training, coordinating, supervising and evaluating personnel performing all levels of HVAC and related equipment maintenance and repair; performing manual labor; understanding and carrying out verbal and written instructions; interpreting and applying applicable codes; reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints and specifications; preparing working sketches; making estimates of materials and labor costs; obtaining project quotes from vendors; preparing and maintaining administrative, operational and personnel records and reports; computer skills in Microsoft Office Pr ducts; communicating effectively verbally and in writing; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in course of work.
