Electrical:
- Install, alter, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot multiple types of electrical systems, electrical fixtures and equipment.
- Determines methodology to complete assigned tasks.
- Read, interpret blueprints, sketches, schematics, diagrams and specifications.
- Estimates materials needed to complete assigned tasks.
- Orders materials to complete assigned tasks.
- Performs preventative maintenance on electrical systems, electrical fixtures and related equipment.
Carpentry/Drywall
- Install, remodel, renovate, alter, repair walls, and related applications (including taping drywall, mudding, applying applicable texturing).
- Determines methodology to complete assigned tasks.
- Read, interpret blueprints, sketches, diagrams and specifications.
- Estimates materials needed to complete assigned task.
- Orders materials to complete assigned task.
Event(s) Support:
- Work with Event Planning and Event Logistics staff in preparing for an event requiring electrical hooks ups, equipment, etc.
Other Duties as assigned:
- Snow & Ice Removal:
- Maintain entryways and walkways up to 20 free from snow and ice by means of specialized equipment or by hand.
- Distribute sand, ice melt or equivalent by means of specialized equipment or by hand.
- Inspect areas for accumulations of snow or ice and alleviate potential safety hazards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED; plus, five (5) years of related work experience in the structural trades appropriate to the work assignment (electrical) or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
- A pre-employment post-offer physical evaluation will be required of the selected candidate.
- Safety Certifications for the following equipment (or ability to become certified within twelve (12) months of hire): Forklift, Skid loader, and Manlift.
- This position requires the use of a company vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Basic, routine, and advanced electrical principles.
- Applicable college, federal, state and city regulations and procedures; and basic construction drawings, sketches, blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
- Construction practices and building maintenance in one or more of the following fields: carpentry, drywall work, painting, electrical, plumbing, roofing, HVAC, door hardware, concrete, masonry, floor covering, locks etc.
- Electrical motor operation and related care and maintenance.
- Occupational hazards and safety procedures applicable to various maintenance operations and activities.
- Materials, supplies, equipment and practices used in the maintenance of buildings.
ABILITY TO:
- Read blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Troubleshoot electrical,
- Use necessary hand tools associated with the trades with proficiency.
- Make decisions recognizing established procedures and practices and to use resourcefulness in resolution.
- Follow written and oral assignments.
- Interpret applicable codes and ensure that facilities meet jurisdictional codes (city, county, state, health, life-safety, uniform building and uniform fire codes, all trade codes such as (electrical) take corrective action when necessary.
- Works well with other departments, employees, students and the public.
- Move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis; 50-100 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Use basic computer programs for technical and communication applications.
- Must be able to pass a complete background check.
