Summary Description:
This position will lead daily production operations. They will be a hands-on leader who will work with production employees to run and improve the operation. The Production Supervisor provides day-to-day floor leadership and demonstrates Gorilla Glue values by setting an impeccable example in all aspects of the job. This is accomplished by living our core values and focusing on safety, quality, cost, and delivery in accordance with our business objectives. This position leads employees working 10hrs shifts, Mon-Thurs.

Responsibilities:

  • Hiring, training and directing individuals who are performing at various levels of the operation including: entry level packing, basic machine operation, material handling and team leads;
  • Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts, reconciling, and communicating with inventory/purchasing management, and ensuring the use of RF scanning devices in a WMS environment;
  • Maintain, build, develop, and improve staff by setting clear expectations, training, monitoring, coaching and following through on develop plans, as needed;
  • Forecast and staff appropriately, utilizing resources such as the production scheduling group;
  • Maintain a positive work environment by ensuring consistent communication, feedback, follow up and recognition;
  • Partner with engineering and the operations manager to maintain accurate productivity standards;
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and eliminate waste;
  • Able to lead projects of moderate complexity, including cross functional teams, project layout and task completion, and presentation to upper management;
  • Ensure a lean production culture is adhered to, included 5S, Kanban, Kaizen participation and leadership and sustainment;
  • This position is responsible for all production related aspects including:
    • Safety
    • Quality
    • Productivity
    • Employee adherence to company policies and procedures
    • Performance appraisals
    • Disciplinary actions
    • Hiring
    • Terminations
    • Organize all activities and assign jobs accordingly
    • Setup layouts, space management, and work organization
    • Forecasting

    • Project management
  • This person will also be responsible for:
    • Effective asset management in a cost effective manner including proper equipment operation.
    • Meet or exceed company goals of complete and on time delivery, efficiency, inventory accuracy.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • One to three years of prior supervisory experience.

Specific Skills:

  • Positive characterization by sense of urgency, ownership and pride.
  • Demonstrated performance in continuous improvements (5S, Kaizen, process improvements, etc.).
  • Proven conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven Leadership abilities.
  • Hands on work ethic.
  • Must be able to lead staff.
  • Coaching, leading, mentoring and teaching skills, as well as the ability to learn each job and the products.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with emphasis on planning and prioritizing.
  • Should be goal oriented, confident, outgoing, and able to work well under pressure and succeed within a competitive environment.
  • Demonstrate good judgment.
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate effective initiative.
  • Strong safety record.
  • The ability to work as needed to cover production demands and multi task.
  • Average to above average Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
  • Developing and maintaining standards, managing processes, analyzing information, good judgment.
