Engineering Drafter

Stepan is hiring a CAD professional to join the Engineering Team at our largest manufacturing facility near Joliet, IL. This position is responsible for updating CAD drawings and engineering records.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2020/higher, and Fastlook to create or revise Millsdale drawing files typical of an industrial facility. Expected to demonstrate expertise in P&IDs/PFDs, plot plans, and general arrangements, plus at least one of the following disciplines: electrical, instrumentation, CSA (Civil/Structural/Architectural), piping, fixed equipment (tanks and vessels), etc.
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding and identification of the equipment within an industrial process facility and its representation on engineering drawings, especially piping, instrumentation, and electrical components. Experience with in ISA5.1 Instrumentation and Control System Symbology preferred.
  • Performs walkdowns to field-verify accuracy of information on existing drawings as required.
  • Support verification of accuracy of applicable records in advance of Process Hazard Analyses, and after completion of MOC's.
  • Ability to create and retire asset records as directed. Update records of assets within the plant as changes are identified.
  • Support the check-out drawings to 3rd party engineering firms for update, and check-in upon return, as directed.
  • Expected to organize, prioritize, and successfully work individually and within a team environment. Works proactively to solve problems, and with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Active participation and contribution to safety programs to continually improve the safety culture of the Company and Department.
  • Communicates directly and frequently works with Corporate Support Functions and Plant Functions, especially Process Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Project Engineering, Process Controls Engineering, Process Safety, and front-line workers.
  • Demonstrates very good written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications

3+ years CAD drafting experience in manufacturing or related field. Experience in oil/chemical manufacturing fields a plus. Prior experience in reading, analysing, interpreting, and creating technical documents and CAD Drawings required.
Experienced in AutoCAD 2020 or newer. Expected to become experienced in FastLook (ACAD viewer/markup software).
Must be experienced user of MS Office (esp. Excel, Word, Access), MS Teams. MS Sharepoint experience preferred
SAP Experience a plus.

Education

High School Diploma required. Associates Degree in Technical Drafting or equivalent field of study preferred

Pay Range: $57,000-74,000
The salary range for this position is determined by considering a variety of factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and the location of the position.
