About the Role As a Senior Project Engineer at XL Construction, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of our construction projects. Whether you're helping lead a major project or owning a smaller one with limited oversight, your contributions will help drive outcomes that reflect our values, client expectations, and construction excellence. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure that schedules, budgets, communications, and documentation are aligned and progressing. This role is ideal for a self-driven problem solver who is passionate about growing their leadership in the field. Key Responsibilities
- Lead or support formal project presentations and trade partner engagement
- Write bid instructions, assemble bid packages, perform takeoffs, and estimate scopes
- Support or lead the subcontractor buyout and selection process
- Set up project systems in Vista and contribute to the Control Estimate
- Perform project management responsibilities on small projects or larger scopes
- Manage procurement activities and resolve schedule-related material issues
- Lead document control efforts, including RFI/submittal management and drawing logs
- Estimate and validate change orders, present client-facing pricing with limited oversight
- Participate in or lead OAC meetings and generate meeting minutes
- Monitor site progress, perform quality control, and support field resolution
- Manage the punch-list and project closeout including warranty, LEED, and O&M deliverables
- Build and maintain strong client, subcontractor, and stakeholder relationships
- Mentor and support the development of junior team members
- Uphold and model XLs safety standards and values in every interaction
- 35 years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar role in commercial construction
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education/experience
- Experience in healthcare, corporate office, life science/technology, or education markets preferred
- Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, permitting, and project lifecycles
- Advanced knowledge of construction platforms and tools: Procore, BlueBeam, Vista, Primavera, Microsoft Suite, and On-Screen Takeoff
- OSHA 10 certification required (or willingness to obtain)
