Painter/Life Safety Inspector

The Orange County Asset Management Services Department has an opening for a Painter/Life Safety Inspector.

The work involves the responsibility for performing life safety inspections for all county facilities. Work includes inspections of AED equipment, fire extinguishers, emergency lights, and fire doors. The position will also assist in maintaining and correcting life safety devices. This position will also be responsible for painting County facilities, including interiors and exteriors.

Work is performed under the general direction of the Assistant Facilities Maintenance Manager with considerable leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work, and in making decisions regarding customer needs and requests and conducting project assignments. Supervision over others is not required of this position. Position does related work as required.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from High School or completion of a General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency AND two (2) years of experience in building maintenance.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid drivers license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

All offers of employment are conditioned upon successful clearance of a background check, Fitness-for-Duty assessment, and pre-employment drug testing. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.

Participation in the Countys Drug and Alcohol Program is required.

Must be available for on-call response to inclement weather conditions that may affect County facilities and operations as well as community emergency response, Red Cross assistance and Emergency Services support during declared state of emergency operations.
