Modern Hydrogen is seeking a Welder Fabricator to join our Manufacturing team based in Woodinville, WA. Position Summary:

Welder Fabricator is responsible for reading and interpreting technical drawings, performing high-quality welds (GTAW/SMAW), fitting pipe and structural components, and assembling complex mechanical systems in accordance with engineering specifications and safety standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Fabrication & Welding:

  • Fabricates steel frames, piping assemblies, and structural components for process skids using cutting, grinding, and welding tools.

  • Performs TIG and/or Stick welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys.

  • Welds to code-compliant standards, including x-ray quality where required.

  • Performs pipe welding and fitting using precision measurement tools and isometric drawings.

Assembly:

Assembles process piping, structural frames, valves, instruments, supports, and equipment onto skid packages.

Reading & Interpretation:

  • Reads and interprets P&IDs, isometric drawings, spool sheets, weld maps, and general assembly drawings.

  • Follows detailed work instructions, travelers, and fabrication packages.

General Duties:

  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

  • Operates fabrication and rigging equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and power tools.

  • Collaborates with QA/QC, engineering, and project management to resolve fabrication issues.

  • Adheres to all safety procedures and participates in safety meetings and training.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience:

  • 35 years minimum experience in a fabrication/welding/assembly role, preferably in process skid, modular system, or industrial equipment manufacturing.

  • Proven experience in pipe welding (GTAW/TIG, SMAW/Stick) and structural welding to code (e.g., ASME, AWS D1.1).

  • Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and P&IDs.

  • Proficient in operating fabrication tools, welding equipment, and rigging hardware.

  • Familiarity with weld documentation, WPSs, and quality control procedures.

  • Experience with CAD Tools, CNC Plasma, Mills and Lathes are considered a strong asset.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and quality.

  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications (Preferred):

  • Ability to pass certification tests administered by Modern Hydrogen for carbon steel and stainless steel pipe welding in accordance with ASME section IX B31.3 as well as structural welding per AWS D1.1.

  • Forklift and overhead crane experience.

  • Confined space or hot work training is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Required to work onsite at Woodinville, WA, must be onsite 5 days a week.

  • Performs work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial equipment and machinery.

  • Stands and walks for extended periods, up to 10 hours per day.

  • Frequently bends, lifts, reaches, twists, and uses hand tools or mechanical equipment.

  • Regularly uses hands, arms, and upper body to operate machinery, assemble components, or support experimental setups.

  • Frequently lifts or maneuvers materials weighing up to 50 pounds; team lifts or mechanical assistance required for heavier items.

  • Exposed to noise, dust, vibration, and varying temperatures; required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, ear protection, etc.

  • May operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other powered industrial machines with proper training and certification.

  • Adheres to all safety, environmental, and hazard communication protocols in compliance with company and regulatory standards.

  • May be required to work overtime, alternate shifts, or weekends based on production schedules and project timelines.
