About This Role
The OSP (Outside Plant) Construction Inspector I/II is responsible for overseeing and inspecting the construction and maintenance of outside plant telecommunications infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with contractors, engineers, and various local and state officials to ensure projects are completed accurately, safely, and within regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of OSP telecommunications construction, a strong understanding of OSP engineering prints, and a passion for helping others.
What You'll Do
- Work Print Corrections:
- Collaborate with contractors and engineers to review and correct work prints.
- Ensure all corrections are accurately documented and communicated to relevant parties.
- Work Order Change Forms (WOCF):
- Execute WOCF's as needed to address changes in project scope or specifications.
- Maintain detailed records of all changes and ensure timely updates to project documentation.
- Pre-Construction Site Walks:
- Conduct pre-construction site walks with contractors to assess the constructability of projects.
- Identify potential issues and provide recommendations to ensure smooth project execution.
- Permitting:
- Work with local and state officials to secure necessary permits for construction projects.
- Engage with counties, townships, EMCs, DOT, and tribal authorities to navigate regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Project Management:
- Oversee OSP construction projects from inception to completion.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Monitor project progress and address any issues that arise during construction.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on project status, including any delays or issues encountered.
- Job Site Observations:
- On-site job site reviews ensuring construction crews are adhering to all OSP engineering and construction standards
- Ensure crews are following guidelines set forth by DOT, County, and or City or local municipalities.
Do You Have
- Extensive experience in OSP telecommunications construction.
- Strong understanding of OSP engineering prints and the ability to interpret and correct them.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a desire to help and guide others.
- Experience working with local and state officials, including obtaining permits and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Ability to conduct detailed site walks and identify potential construction challenges.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- This position requires the ability to travel out of town, out of state, and stay overnight for durations ranging from multiple days to several weeks. Candidates must be willing and able to accommodate these travel demands as part of their role responsibilities
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications preferred.
