Electrical Engineer III

The Electrical Engineer III will primarily work with the applications and systems engineering teams to understand customer product requirements and create system block diagrams. The selected candidate will then take ownership of transforming the system block diagrams into detailed electrical schematics and creating the electrical BOM. These preliminary BOM's will be used for electrical costing in order to respond to customer RFQ's. In addition to RFQ activities you will interface with the global product development teams (EE, ME and SW) to assist in system bring up and interoperability troubleshooting efforts. The position requires understanding of the products from the system architecture level through component level design. The ideal candidate will have a broad background and understand product development from concept through development and into high volume production.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and consultation to Application Engineers in regards to technical questions posed by customers.
  • Assist in creation of System Block Diagrams based off product requirements and/or information contained in customer RFQ's.
  • Translate System Block Diagrams into Component Level Schematics in order to create an accurate BOM. These BOM's will be used in quoting efforts (to support RFQ's).
  • Interface with R&D teams to keep abreast of the continuous evolution of key features such as capacitive touch, motion sensing, voice control and RFIC implementation.
  • "Go to" person to lead product/system level bring-up troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • In depth understanding of microprocessor architecture, memory devices, display technologies (color LCD etc), interface technologies (USB, UART, SPI, I2C), switching power control circuitry, sensors (accelerometers and gyroscopes), IR (infra-red) and analog design.
  • Experience with capacitive touch, microphones and audio a plus.
  • Working knowledge of common computer tools including MS Office, Excel, Power Point, and ECAD tools such as Schematic Capture, and PCB layout tools.
  • Familiar with lab equipment such as multi-meter, oscilloscope, function generator, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, etc.
  • Familiar with wireless design including ASK, FSK, Wi-Fi, RF4CE, ZigBee, iControl, and Bluetooth/BLE technologies a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, collaborative skills, cross-functional interface skills, analytical skills and problem solving capabilities are essential.
  • Ability to effectively present technical concepts, ideas and information in terms that both engineers and non-engineers can understand.

Education

  • BSEE with 4+ years' experience
  • MSEE with 3+ years' experience
  • Ph.D. with 2+ years' experience

$120,000 - $130,000 a year
