The Role: As a Transportation Project Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and delivering roadway and transportation infrastructure projects from concept through construction. This role requires a strong foundation in civil engineering principles, familiarity with state and federal design standards, and the ability to lead tasks, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across disciplines. You'll contribute to a wide range of projects that improve mobility, safety, and quality of life for communities we serve.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead or support the design of roadway projects including typical sections, geometric layouts, drainage and hydraulic analyses, erosion control plans, safety features, and maintenance of traffic plans
- Prepare construction documents, including plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates
- Manage tasks and oversee work performed by junior engineers and CAD technicians
- Support the development and training of early-career staff
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure design excellence and client satisfaction
- Support a diverse portfolio of projects, including federal, commercial, and institutional clients
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Oklahoma
- Minimum of 5 years transportation design experience
- Proficiency with AutoDesk, Civil 3D, or OpenRoads
- Working knowledge of design standards and guidelines including:
- AASHTO Green Book
- Roadside Design Guide
- MUTCD
- Oklahoma DOT Roadway Design Manual
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) projects and familiarity with their design standards and plan development preferences
Essential Physical Functions:
- Sit/stand at a desk or computer
- Walk, stoop, stand and move around job sites
- Travel and occasional site visits requiring stooping, standing, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent communication via phone, video, or in-person meetings
- Ability to focus on digital and paper-based information for extended periods
- Some project-based travel may be required
