GENERAL SUMMARY: The Wayfinding and Signage Project Manager oversees the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of the enterprise signage and wayfinding systems. This role ensures that all signage aligns with the organization's branding, complies with regulatory standards, and enhances the overall patient and visitor experience.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Management:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive signage strategy across all health system facilities.
- Coordinate with departments to assess signage needs and implement solutions.
- Ensure consistency in signage design and messaging throughout the organization. Design and Compliance:
- Collaborate with graphic designers and vendors to create signage that aligns with brand guidelines.
- Ensure all signage complies with ADA, Joint Commission, and other relevant regulations.
- Stay updated on best practices in healthcare signage and wayfinding.
Project Coordination:
- Manage signage projects from conception through installation.
- Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource plans while keeping leadership updated.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for fabrication, installation and work with the permitting process at each municipality.
Maintenance and Updates:
- Regularly assess existing signage for wear, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- Implement updates or replacements as needed.
- Maintain an inventory of signage assets and documentation.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in signage design and program management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Experience with wayfinding systems and environmental graphic design, preferably in Detroit and/or neighboring municipalities in Southeast Michigan.
- Familiarity with digital signage technologies and content management systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to healthcare signage.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Self-directed and motivated.
- Effective collaborator; accountable for self and others.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Certification in Environmental Graphic Design (EGD) or related field.
