Job Description

The successful candidate will perform tasks including grading, trenching, excavating, backfilling, and other duties to meet project specifications. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a variety of machinery used in the building and maintenance of roadways and transportation infrastructure.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

• Operators perform equipment inspections and may be required to perform daily maintenance of equipment (such as greasing/lubing).
• Previous Operator of construction equipment, or other related industrial experience preferred.
• Experience in a labor-intensive position and working outside in all types of weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently in a team and safety focused environment.

• Communicate with project foremen and team members to ensure work is aligned with job timelines and quality expectations.

• Identify and report mechanical problems immediately to supervisors or maintenance personnel.

• Assist in site preparation, drainage installation, culvert work, and road base construction.
• Mechanical inclination is an asset.
• Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently, including loaders, graders, dozers, rollers, and excavators.
• Maintain accountability for equipment and materials during shifts.

PHYSICAL AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (assistance recommended for heavier loads).
• Work extended hours on foot, including on uneven or rough surfaces.
• Climb ladders, kneel, crawl, or work at heights and in confined spaces.

• Location: industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop
