About this Role
WT Byler, a Quanta Services Company, is seeking a skilled and reliable Finish Grade Operator to join our team.
This role is essential to achieving precise grading and site preparation across a wide range of infrastructure and industrial projects. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience operating heavy equipment with a strong focus on safety, quality, and production.
The position will be based in Cameron, LA but will require the ability to travel. (Travel compensation is available for some assignments)
What You'll Do
- Operate motor graders, dozers, and other heavy equipment to achieve fine grade tolerances on civil construction projects.
- Work from grade stakes, blueprints, GPS systems, and verbal instructions to meet precise specifications.
- Perform final grading and surface finishing for roadways, pads, and utility installations.
- Coordinate with surveyors, grade checkers, and foremen to verify accuracy and make adjustments as needed.
- Conduct equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance to ensure safe and effective operation.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in compliance with project safety and environmental standards.
- Support and uphold WT Byler Company's commitment to safety, integrity, and performance excellence.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a finish grade operator in heavy civil or site development work.
- Proficiency with GPS-controlled grading systems (Ex. Trimble, Topcon, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and construction drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to grade to tight tolerances (0.1 foot or better).
- Strong understanding of site drainage, slopes, and compaction requirements.
- Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
- Must be able to work outdoors in variable conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
