Job Description

AECOM is looking for 3 Electrical Engineers in our Tampa, FL office. This position will work within the Building & Places (B+P) organization and will provide engineering expertise in relation to Buildings, Facilities, and Site practices within B+P.

Ideal candidates have a background and interest in vertical building development as well as the related Site development, having the ability to be part of a collaborative project team, be client-focused, and produce great works. This individual will participate in all aspects from project identification through conceptual and final designs and providing support activities during construction.

AECOM's Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, master planning, urban planning, civil engineering, and landscape architecture. Our Tampa office includes all disciplines and regularly works across offices and the region.

The Electrical Engineer position presents an opportunity for a candidate to excel in their expertise and contribute to growing our Electrical Engineering B+P expertise and team, leadership growth, and mentoring teams. The position will also provide for growth in client relationships and internal relationships across offices and region. AECOM actively supports continued education, training, and innovations in professional development.

Positions Available: We are accepting resumes for the following:

  • Electrical Engineer III - mid-level

  • Electrical Engineer IV - mid level

  • Electrical Engineer V - senior level

The job responsibilities for the positions include, but may not be limited, the following:

  • Serving as Electrical Engineer on a variety of building and facility project types, including mid-to large size projects. Role provides the opportunity to lead and/or grow into leading project engineering.

  • Able to organize workload and work independently on project-specific design tasks and lead project staff.

  • Able to communicate and present with Clients and discuss/explain technical solutions to project conditions.

  • Performing quality control reviews of work developed by others.

  • Providing technical input to studies and design assessments, with expertise for benefit of client and/or team.

  • Coordinate scope, schedule, budget in working with project managers and other senior level team members.

  • Using AutoCAD and Revit, as working platforms for delivering design.

  • Mentoring and providing guidance to junior level staff for specific technical design aspects and professional service.

  • Provide direction to prescriptive and performance-based specifications.

  • Participating in development of technical proposals (including estimates for the engineering budget and schedule)

  • Reviewing permitting agency/engineering standards and regulations necessary to develop proper project design and permitting applications.

  • Work closely with other departments from the AECOM project team/office, including civil, building engineering, architecture, geotechnical, traffic engineers, Federal team, landscape architects, and surveyors to provide value and partner in project opportunities.

  • Participating and supporting site field investigations and construction related activities.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

  • Valid US Driver's License required, as a condition of employment must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.

  • Position specific requirements are as follows:

  • Mid- Level Electrical Engineer III:

  • BA/BS in Engineering plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida (current FL PE License), or EIT and able to register for the Principles & Practice (PE) Exam within 6 months.

  • Mid- Level Electrical Engineer IV:

  • BA/BS in Engineering plus 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida (current FL PE License), or able to register for the Principles & Practice (PE) Exam within 6 months.

  • Senior Level Electrical Engineer V:

  • BA/BS in Engineering plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida (current FL PE License).

  • Demonstrated experience working on building and facility design projects for electrical engineering.

  • Experience preparing calculations and design documents (reports, plans, specifications)

  • Experience using AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Experience using industry software utilized for electrical calculations, design, modeling, with current industry-recognized software.

  • Demonstrated experience in roles/assignments leading projects, clients, and teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in electrical engineering and building development projects covering all aspects of building and site design - survey, design development, construction documents, construction administration, with direct experience in design and permitting of projects.

  • Experience serving as electrical engineering design on a variety of building types for vertical and horizontal engineering.

  • Experience with permitting projects with local AHJs and required jurisdictions related to specific projects.

  • Demonstrated experience in planning and organizing tasks and teams in a deadline intensive environment.

  • Experience working in large and/or complex projects/programs is beneficial.

  • Experience with construction phase services for projects (field reviews, RFI and shop drawing/submittal reviews, specifications, as-builts and record drawings, etc.)
