Average Starting Hourly Pay Range $16.00 - $25.00 depending on experience
Day Shift Monday - Friday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm
16% Night Shift Premium Available Monday - Thursday 5:00 pm - 5:30 am
PTO upon hire, Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits are offered after 90 days of employment, 401K after 6 months
Overview: As a Painter I or II for Merrill: A Keel Company, you will be responsible for preparation of areas on product that need to be coated; brush or spray operations of manufactured products which require standard finishes. Advanced knowledge of blast profile may be required for proper coating adhesion.
Job Functions:
- Prepares surfaces for painting.
- Applies primer and other coatings per paint specifications.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Cleans and maintains tools and/or painting equipment, sprayers, and strippers, sometimes requiring disassembly and reassembly in order to do so.
Physical Demands: Frequent standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance.
Work Environment: Typical welding/fabrication shop floor, with fumes from welding and risk of eye flash. Paint department also has exposure to fumes from paints, thinners, and cleaners, so appropriate masks, eye protection, and ear protection are required along with safety toed boots and gloves for handling potentially harmful fluids. Exposure to debris/particulates, moving equipment, and high temperatures is frequent, and there is risk of sustain high temperatures depending on weather conditions.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One (1) year or more of industrial paint experience.
- Basic to advanced knowledge of industrial painting methods.
- Fork truck experience.
- Must be organized, have attention to detail, and be mechanically inclined.
- Must be able to read and understand work instructions and complete tasks under direct supervision.
- Advanced painter candidates must be able to read and understand paint specifications, blueprints, and work instructions to complete tasks with little to no supervision.
