DUTIES: Mubea North America Shared Services, Inc. seeks a Project Engineer based out of our office at
1701 Harmon Rd, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. This is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. This position requires international travel up to 5% of the time and domestic travel up to 15% of the time. Plan and coordinate program activities according to program timelines, budget, and customer and quality requirements. Evaluate customer needs to develop new business opportunities and promote product innovations for future business applications. Lead project team through completion of APQP process from acquisition through launch. Review customer technical specifications to initiate and organize prototype orders. Perform stress analysis and finite element simulation according to customer technical specifications. Conduct technical feasibility assessment considering Mubea manufacturing processes and capabilities, including CNC cold forming, hot setting, shot peening, and surface coating. Design and develop automotive coil springs and rubber system components using design, stress, and fatigue life estimation tools. Plan and perform DVP&R, and generate validation test reports for customer signoff and product safety assurance. Prepare component definition packages, CAD models, and prints to define physical and performance requirements (including durability, noise, shape, size, strength, and environmental robustness). Implement engineering changes by collaborating with cross-functional teams and evaluating cost, feasibility, timing, and customer expectations. Perform DFMEA by identifying and evaluating potential part failures to ensure prevention according to AIAG and VDA standards. Identify, analyze, and implement cost, quality, safety, and delivery improvements. Manage customer relationship throughout design, development, and industrialization processes.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or closely related and two (2) years of experience in a Project Engineer or Product Development Engineer position with a Tier-1automotive supplier or related. Experience must include 2 years of experience with each of the following: experience in reviewing and analyzing technical drawings of automotive coil springs to establish manufacturing feasibility; experience in planning, executing, and reporting DVP&R validations for automotive suspension components; experience in documenting automotive coil spring design parameters in the form of manufacturing work instructions to achieve vehicle ride height and dynamic performance; experience in evaluating proposed changes in cold forming, hot setting, shot peening, and corrosion protection processes used in the production of automotive coil springs; experience in evaluating fit, form, and function of automotive suspension systems during prototype and production builds, and validating assembly quality and part performance; experience in implementing statistical process control methods using Excel or other statistical software; experience in evaluating component NVH performance to ensure compliance with OEM requirements; experience in analyzing kinematic models and physical packaging space using CAD and physical gauge tools; experience in conducting root cause investigations and fracture analysis on nonconforming production parts and warranty return parts; and experience in implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects utilizing Six Sigma and data analysis tools such as MiniTab and Excel. This position requires international travel up to 5% of the time and domestic travel up to 15% of the time.
