Position Overview
The general role of an Electrical Assistant - Electrical is to work with Journeyman Electricians and Electrical Foreman to install, maintain, and repair various electrical components within customer locations.
This individual will work with both low and medium voltage electrical applications, and learn to work in a wide array of industries including Construction, Manufacturing, Power Plants, Commercial, Aggregate, Oil and Gas, Coal, Wind and Solar Energy, etc. This position must be flexible and willing to travel with overnight stays and work extended hours as needed.
The Electrical Assistant will report to the Department Manager - Electrical and will work primarily out of their assigned location.
What You'll Do
- Assist Electricians and Electrical Foreman with installing and maintaining electrical and power systems
- Install electrical components such as lighting, electrical outlets, circuit breakers, etc.
- Excavate underground trenches.
- Run a variety of styles and sizes of conduit and cable trays to electrical devices
- Pull wire to termination boxes, panels, and other controllers
- Load and unload tools, materials, equipment, etc.
- Drive ground rods and install grounding grids
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and electrical equipment pertinent to the electrical trade
- Assist with paperwork and documentation for accurate record-keeping
- Learn to read electrical code, manuals, wiring and circuitry diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and other electrical specifications
- Learn to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical issues, systems, and components
What You'll Bring
- 0-2 years of electrical experience or equivalent/relevant education preferred
- Valid Driver's License required
- Ability to identify and utilize hand and power tools typically utilized in the electrical trade
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately
- Ability to take accurate measurements
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work well with others and act in a respectful manner towards co-workers and customers
- Competent with email and text messaging
