Employees | Value | Execution | Relationships JOB SUMMARY Under limited supervision, performs work requiring extensive automotive, hydraulic system, and mechanical knowledge in the repair and maintenance of field vehicles and construction equipment in order to perform effective DOT audits. Duties may be performed in the shop or on job sites. Some overnight travel may be required. THIS POSITION IS REQUIRED TO TRAVEL . The role can be based out of the Kansas City, Wichita or Central Kansas area. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years of experience and/or training in maintenance and repair of trucks and/or heavy equipment, education in diesel technology or related field, or a combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the position's duties. 2+ years of experience in vehicle inspections. Must have a class A CDL and DOT Medical Card (or be able to obtain within 6 months). Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record according to legal requirements. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Experience with power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment. Experience with the operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes. Familiar with mechanical design and fabrication. Required to maintain a valid driver's license. Must have a safe driving record and a valid Class A commercial driver's license according to legal requirements. Subject to the Company's DOT Substance Abuse Testing Program. Must have own tools and experience with power tools and hand tools. Must have a flexible schedule during normal business hour. KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance. Familiar with mechanical design and fabrication. Experience with electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems. Skills include using power and hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and experience in operating vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes. Strong knowledge of truck, trailer, and equipment maintenance. Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation skills. Working knowledge of fleet-related DOT, EPA, and OSHA compliance standards. Knowledge of safety practices and procedures. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Computer literate. Ability to work well independently. Strong communication skills. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, focusing on mechanical, aesthetic, and operational aspects. Clearly and professionally document inspection findings in a written report. Adhere to company quality standards and safety protocols at all times. Schedule and organize truck, trailer and equipment inspections/audits. Develop, implement, and enforce vehicle management best practices, policies and procedures. Install and maintain vehicle cameras and GPS tracking systems. Prepares and maintains records and reports. Set up new equipment and vehicles. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and outside agencies. Safely drive various vehicles and/or transport equipment; perform inspections on vehicles before and after trips. Obtains, as necessary, all moving permits, licenses, titles, safety checks, etc. as required by corporate policy, state or federal regulations or client requirements. Perform minor emergency road service as necessary. Conduct all work with established safety procedures. This position requires driving. Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned. Work Schedule: 10 hour shifts Monday - Friday, with the occasional Saturday.
