HVAC Technician Job Description The HVAC Technician will perform planned maintenance, repairs, and projects on commercial and residential HVAC systems and various refrigeration equipment. This role requires working independently or as part of a team, including collaboration with other trades, to ensure the efficient operation of our owned properties. Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, repair, and replace chillers, central air systems, window air conditioners, and refrigeration equipment. Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts, and reassemble repaired systems. Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment. Collaborate with heat mechanics to maintain, service, and repair HVAC equipment and boiler equipment, including water treatment. Service, repair, and rebuild pumps and compressors. Essential Skills HVAC and refrigeration service and troubleshooting skills. Mechanical repair expertise. EPA Universal or EPA 608 Certification. 2+ years of commercial or industrial HVAC service/troubleshooting experience. Electrical skills. Preventive maintenance knowledge. Work Environment The HVAC Technician will respond to equipment maintenance needs across campus. Depending on the season and location, the work environment may vary in temperature. The role requires the ability to bend, squat, and lift, sometimes working in smaller spaces. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm, with rotating on-call duties as needed. Job Type & Location This is a position based out of Bloomington, Indiana. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
