Production Shift Supervisor

The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production during their assigned shift, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and adherence to production schedules. This role requires leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team in a demanding, fast-paced heavy manufacturing environment.

Candidates must have leadership and troubleshooting experience in manufacturing or a heavy industrial environment.

Also must be willing to work a ROTATING SHIFT schedule.

responsibilities:

• Safety Leadership:
  
  
• Champion a safety-first culture on the shift.
  
  
• Ensure strict adherence to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, LOTO).
  
  
• Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all team members.

Production Oversight & Execution:

Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of production personnel (operators, technicians, etc.) on the assigned shift.

Ensure daily/shift production targets are met or exceeded in terms of quantity, quality, and on-time delivery.

Monitor production processes, equipment performance, and material flow.

Adjust production schedules and resource allocation as needed to address issues or changing priorities during the shift.

Troubleshoot basic operational issues and coordinate with maintenance for more complex equipment breakdowns.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure all products manufactured on the shift meet defined quality standards and customer specifications.

Oversee in-process quality checks and ensure operators follow quality procedures.

Minimize scrap, rework, and waste.

Team Leadership & Development:

Provide clear direction, coaching, and feedback to production team members.

Conduct performance reviews, address performance issues, and support employee development.

Train new employees on safe work practices, operating procedures, and quality standards.

Foster a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment.

Process Improvement & Efficiency:

Actively identify opportunities for process improvements, waste reduction, and efficiency gains on the shift.

Participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, 5S, Kaizen events).
