We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer with expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in aircraft structures, composite materials, and mechanical engineering, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience in the automotive industry will also be considered.
Role and Responsibilities
- Perform advanced structural analysis and simulations using FEA software such as ANSYS or FEMAP with NX NASTRAN.
- Support ice protection systems integration into aerospace structures such as wing and tail leading edges, aerodynamic fairings and engine air intakes.
- Optimize system structural integration into aerospace components, to meet stringent performance and safety requirements.
- Support electronic components packaging and assess compliance to environmental requirements (thermal, inertial…) with detail chassis, internal components and printed circuit board's mechanical modeling.
- Develop and validate complex finite element models to predict structural behavior under various loading conditions, including static, dynamic, and thermal loads.
- Conduct failure analysis, fatigue analysis, stress analysis, and damage tolerance assessments to ensure structural integrity and durability are met per requirements.
- Perform detail hand calculations to validate FEA model results and derive margins of safety.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and testing, to ensure design integrity and manufacturability are met.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations to support engineering decisions and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Selection of materials and processes in accordance with technical specifications requirements.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in structural engineering, FEA techniques, and aerospace industry standards.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in FEA software such as ANSYS, FEMAP with NX NASTRAN, or similar tool.
- Good understanding of material properties, structural mechanics, and aerospace industry standards.
- Experience with composite materials and their application in aerospace structures is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to details, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering in the aerospace industry with a focus on FEA. Experience in automotive industry will be considered.
