Job Description

Position Summary

Will be responsible for performing high mix / low volume manual TIG welding of stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum within a high quality medical device manufacturing environment.

Duties
  1. Set-up and operate welding equipment using prescribed methods and procedures to weld parts with acceptable tolerances and standards.
  2. Build weldments through manual layout and manual surface prep processes when required.
  3. Read and interpret welding blueprints including standard welding symbols, travelers, and other work instruction documents.
  4. Position parts to be joined using fixtures and other holding or positioning devices.
  5. Use required measuring instruments and gages to check and ensure parts meet dimensional requirements.
  6. Assist in problem solving activities
  7. Capable of mentoring/ training Associate Welder & Welder I
  8. Capable of fitting, purging and welding complete joint penetration (CJP) welds
  9. Ability to perform troubleshooting of welding equipment, materials and fixturing.
  10. Capable of performing visual welding inspection.
  11. Ability to interpret AWS standards and welding symbols
  12. Ability to produce all product lines within the designated area
  13. Assist Senior Welder with review of all standard work within designated area
  14. Capable of mentoring/training Welder II
Duties - cont'd Education Degree
  • High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience
  1. 3-5 years of welding experience required
  2. 2 years of experience working in a solid metal fabrication / machining environment
  3. Must be able to use prescribed manual processes in TIG welding of stainless, mild steel, and aluminum.
  4. Must be able to use precision measuring instruments and gages.
Preferred Experience
  1. Welding experience in flux core, MIG, stick, carbon steel, preferred.
  2. Certification in GTAW (TIG) preferred
Skills
  1. Must have strong math and troubleshooting proficiency and basic computer skills.
  2. Must be able to read and interpret welding blueprints, including all standard welding symbols.
