Job SummaryCardinal Staffing is looking for a temporary skilled Welder to join our hydraulic cylinder repair team. The ideal candidate will have experience in welding heavy-duty components, especially in the disassembly, rebuilding, and fabrication of hydraulic cylinders. You will be responsible for performing high-quality welds on various steel and alloy parts, ensuring strength and durability of repaired or custom-built cylinders.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform welding and fabrication on hydraulic cylinder components, including barrel ends, clevises, mounting eyes, rods, and ports
Weld cracks in cylinder barrels and heads using proper prep and welding techniques
Rebuild worn eyelets, clevises, and bearing housings using weld buildup and machining
Fabricate or modify parts such as flanges, trunnions, and glands to OEM specs or customer needs
Operate MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) equipment as needed
Ensure all welds meet strength and quality standards required for high-pressure hydraulic applications
Grind, prep, and finish welds to maintain proper dimensions and clearances
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and shop safety protocols
Inspect and measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools
Assist in other shop duties such as disassembly, cleaning, or painting when necessary

Typical Weld Types:
MIG (GMAW) for general fabrication and repairs on mild steel cylinder components
TIG (GTAW) for precision welds on chrome rod overlays, stainless steel parts, or thin materials
BRAZING Bronze on steel
Fillet, groove, and plug welds on various cylinder ends and mounting components

Qualifications:
2+ years of welding experience, preferably in an industrial, heavy equipment, or hydraulic repair setting
Proficient in MIG and TIG welding
Ability to work with heavy materials and overhead cranes or lifts
Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat control, and proper welding prep
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and weld symbols
Attention to detail and commitment to weld quality and safety
Must be able to pass a weld test as part of the hiring process

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
Comfortable standing, bending, and working in physically demanding environments for extended periods
Capable of using hand and power tools safely and efficiently
