**FULL-TIME - 1st shift**
Valtir is hiring a **Lead** **Fitter/Welder** to support our Lima, OH manufacturing facility by performing lead responsibilities in the manufacturing and processing of highway safety products. As the Lead you will be fully engaged with our process on the floor to actively lead and work alongside teammates. The position combines manual tasks, troubleshooting and responding to process breakdowns, as well as performing quality checks.
**Job Duties Include, but not limited to:**
- Operate equipment and tools to aid in manufacturing highway safety products.
- Perform a variety of tasks as directed to maintain efficient production in the department
- Read blueprints, adjust machines for different materials and thickness
- Support and Promote 5S/Lean initiatives including process changes, set-up improvements
- Maintain and track raw materials & finished goods
- Train, instruct and direct work activities of employees in work area
- Monitors and adapts processes and scheduling to accomplish manufacturing goals
- Performs preventative maintenance and minor troubleshooting
- Effectively works with other departments to ensure all production needs are being met
- Assist in the completion of all tasks, including running production, to meet deadlines
- Lift/carry materials of different weights throughout the shift
- Check tools and equipment in observance of safety regulations
- Other duties as assigned
**Working Environment:**
- Conditions can be hot, cold, dirty, and noisy.
- The job is within a fast paced, heavy industrial environment and you may be required to work within various areas of the plant.
- Safety is our highest priority and safety procedures / guidelines must be adhered to at all times. This includes safety wear such as hearing and eye protection, protective clothing and steel-toed shoes.
- Attendance and showing up to work on time are important to the success of the plant. Dependable job attendance is expected.
**Qualifications:**
- 1, D1.5 & D1.3 Weld Certifications
- Leadership experience preferred
- Knowledge of fabrication/weld shop processes
- Ability to read blueprints
- Forklift & Crane certified preferred
- Ability to measure accurately
- Ability to perform all essential functions safely and efficiently
- Ability to manage tasks appropriately i.e. critical thinking, attention to detail, communication, problem solving & proficiency
- Ability to function as a team member and establish and maintain effective working relationships
