WORK SCHEDULE: 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Primarily responsible for maintaining, operating, inspecting, and repairing various types of ammonia refrigeration equipment for a poultry processing plant. Performs preventative and predictive maintenance; periodically tests and inspects to verify equipment is operating within manufacturers specifications and tolerances; troubleshoots equipment problems and repairs as needed. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND T ASKS :
- Under direct supervision, assist in the daily operations of the ammonia refrigeration compressor room.
- Take and record required system readings; understand the implications of variances and report to appropriate personnel/leader.
- Perform basic maintenance as directed.
- Identify unsafe conditions and report to appropriate personnel.
- Work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Required to pass NOCTI HVAC/Refrigeration test, Level I.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Intermediate math and computer skills.
- Basic understanding of ammonia refrigeration equipment.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and general mechanical systems.
- Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours.
- Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Stand up to 8 hours.
- Lift up to 60 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat (99F, 37C) and cold (45F, 4C).
- Exposure to wet and dusty environment.
- Frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling.
- Work around raw, live animal odors.
