Your responsibilities

• Promote a "safety first" culture by active participation or conducting safety toolbox meetings, continuous evaluation of work site for potential hazards or unsafe actions, use Personal Protective Equipment "PPE" appropriate to the site or work to be performed and report near misses, accidents or injuries (no matter the severity) and identify unsafe equipment/work per company guidelines or procedures
• Ensures or conducts as requested shift "tool box" meetings
• Ensures all Job Safety Analysis (JSA) are discussed for the task taking place on shift
• Monitors all conditions in field where FLSmidth employees are working
• Actively searches for unsafe conditions or unsafe acts and takes appropriate actions
• Reports back to the safety manager and supervisor on site conditions weekly
• Immediately investigates and reports all near miss or safety incidents
• Become a certified MSHA trainer
• Be actively involved in the generation and modification of all safety documentation including JSAs

What you bring

• Work experience is result of working in heavy construction or working with industrial equipment maintenance
• Ability read/understand drawings, work instructions and other safety documentation
• Able to interact professionally with both clients and colleagues
• Possess critical thinking skills that demonstrate a complex understanding of the work and the safety aspects of others
• Seeks out opportunities to perform the work more efficiently and safely
• OSHA and MSHA accreditation Including OSHA 10 and 30 Hour training, MSHA new miner and related 8 hour refresher
• Training on mobile equipment safety and regulations

Physical Demands

Work is typically performed at customer locations and involves working near or around operating or offline production equipment. Work environment Includes exposure to extreme hot and cold weather conditions. Working with elevated heights and also confined spaces. All sites require PPE, including special PPE such as respirators.

• Standing for long periods of time
• Typical work day of 12 - 14 hours, working 7 days per week (may be assigned to AM or PM shifts)
• Climbing of stairs and/or ladders
• Extensive travel by both driving truck and trailer and air (domestic and international)
• Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus
