Your Opportunity

As part of our Engineering team, you would analyze data, draft implementation plans for production process optimization. Seeking out ways to maximize efficiencies by eliminating the waste of valuable resources that directly impact our overall operating costs. You are instrumental to the manufacturing of Smithfield, Eckrich, Nathan's Famous, and our other product brands, to meet the needs of our customers and consumers.

The Construction Manager assists the Capital Project Management Team in the design, management, scheduling, and execution of construction focused capital projects. This role leads construction management methodology for the company and is responsible for building capability of construction management throughout the company. Insures successful implementation of construction for all projects.

Core Responsibilities

Maintain and update company construction specifications, standards, construction related project logs, and schedules.

Develop training material and build capability in the organization regarding construction management. Lead, coach and guide the organization in successful construction management methodologies.

Execute the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process from detailing the scope of work and applicable specifications, bid reviews, and contractor selection.

Identify, process, and execute Requests for Information (RFIs).

Manage all construction regulatory and code aspects with the appropriate local government agencies; permitting, surveys, geotechnical information, etc.

Schedule and coordinate facility construction activities.

Visit project sites to monitor progress and conformance to company established standards.

Prepare, review, and process shop drawings, and maintain as-built drawings.

Collect and assemble O&M material and assist with purchasing and expediting.

Performs additional Engineering duties during the construction planning process.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development is required.

Knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to food processing and the meat industry, preferred.

Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.

General knowledge of building codes, construction specifications, construction management, and construction project scheduling.

Must possess Project Management skills; Contract Administration skills; National codes and standards interpretation skills. Previous experience in the execution of multi-million dollar projects, desirable.

Proficient in AutoCAD.
