As a Plumber 1, you will perform plumbing maintenance and installation work at Fort Indiantown Gap. You will install new water lines and fire hydrants, manufacture and maintain manholes, and repair or replace above and underground water mains and sewer lines. You will also i nstall and repair bathroom and kitchen fixtures such as faucets, showers, commodes, and sinks including the replacement of flush controls. This role requires sound plumbing knowledge to determine and apply the proper work methods and solutions for assigned jobs. In addition, you will m aintain records of work performed and materials utilized for job completion, p erform preventive maintenance and make minor repairs, and ensure all work complies with DMVA general safety rules.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components and fixtures; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • This position requires you to possess, at the time of application, or obtain, within 18 months of the date of hire, a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a water or wastewater operator that is equal to or greater than Class E, Subclass 1. Certification must be continuously maintained for the duration of employment in the position.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Completion of formal training in the plumbing trade
  • Previous experience as a plumber
  • Previous experience in the operation, maintenance, and/or repair of water main breaks and the sanitizing of water mains due to main breaks
  • Previous experience in the maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of underground water mains and/or sewage lines
  • Previous experience in the installation and/or connection of service lines to water or sewage mains
  • Previous experience working in hazardous conditions such as confined space, electrical currents, or chemical exposure
