Responsible for supervising the operation and maintenance functions (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) for the various building facilities and systems, and grounds for the local facilities owned or leased by MDU Resources Group, Inc. This position is also responsible for managing expenditures related to the operation and maintenance functions. All MDU Resources employees are responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in their day-to-day work routines for themselves and others. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess a working knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical at a level normally acquired through the completion of a two-year degree in HVAC.
  • Five years of experience in all aspects of building maintenance.
  • Must have prior leadership experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
  • Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
  • Required to maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Due to the need for unescorted access to security sensitive business locations and/or systems, must submit to periodic background checks.
  • On-call rotation in a four-week cycle is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree in applied science with emphasis on heating and air conditioning.
  • Extensive knowledge of Building Automated Systems, all phases of boiler operation i.e., water treatment, trouble shooting, and flue gas analysis, and experience with the operation and maintenance of commercial air conditioning units.
  • A refrigerant handling license.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the various local facilities owned or leased by MDU Resources Group, Inc. Duties include analyze the scope of work and costs associated with the facilities and determining best methods to complete both routine maintenance and special projects.

  • Leads a team of employees and outside contractors required for maintenance, remodeling and construction for all facilities. This includes, but not limited to, all types of trade contractors (general, electrical, mechanical, etc.), custodial services staff, security personnel, mechanical equipment maintenance staff, and grounds keeping contractors.

  • Lead, train, and supervise direct reports dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable working environment for all employees. Manages all operational systems for the facilities. Determine when maintenance, repair or replacement is required. Prioritizes and schedule projects to keep systems in working order. This includes developing long-term maintenance schedules that will prolong the life of the equipment and facilities.

  • Responsible for the overall physical security of the facilities within area of responsibility including the operation of the security card access system and cameras.

  • Working with Administrative Services Manager, assist with rearrangement and remodel projects for the facilities. This includes securing quotes, contacting vendors to schedule projects, and coordinating employee moves.

  • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
