Topgolf Tech is seeking an experienced Architect of Observability to lead the vision, development, and execution of our enterprise observability strategy. This strategic role is essential to ensuring end-to-end visibility across our in-house software platforms, APIs, backend systems, and customer-facing experiences.
You'll serve as the driving force behind our observability architecture, uniting engineering, support, and infrastructure teams under modern Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. Your goal: transform observability into a first-class internal product that powers proactive insights, operational excellence, and cross-team alignment.
Strategy & Leadership
Define and lead Topgolf's enterprise observability vision and roadmap.
Evangelize observability best practices and SRE principles across teams and leadership.
Treat observability as a product - emphasizing usability, developer enablement, and business value.
Architecture & Implementation
Design and build scalable observability frameworks using tools such as Logic Monitor, Observe, New Relic, and PagerDuty
Standardize practices across on-prem systems, AWS environments, and third-party services.
Cross-Team Alignment
Partner with engineering, DevOps, and support teams to embed observability across the software lifecycle.
Govern and guide consistent use of monitoring, metrics, dashboards, SLOs, and incident response workflows.
Operational Excellence
Continuously improve visibility into system performance, reliability, and user impact.
Lead the evolution of proactive alerting, event correlation, root cause analysis, and issue remediation strategies.
Experience
10+ years of combined experience in software engineering and IT infrastructure
5+ years leading observability or SRE strategies in complex, large-scale environments
5+ years implementing and operating observability platforms across cloud and hybrid systems
Deep Technical Skills
Strong background in SRE principles (SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, incident management)
Proven success with LogicMonitor and Observe in production environments
Expertise monitoring hybrid cloud infrastructure (on-prem + AWS)
Demonstrated ability to architect and scale observability platforms in support of mission-critical systems
Leadership & Influence
Skilled at aligning diverse teams around a shared vision
Proven ability to influence executive and technical stakeholders
Passionate about building a culture of visibility, reliability, and continuous improvement
Education and Certification
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Bonus: Certifications in AWS Architecture, Observability, SRE, or DevOps
