Senior Estimator

Overview

The Senior Estimator is responsible for overseeing and managing the estimating process for electrical construction projects. Success in this position requires a deep understanding of the electrical industry, excellent communication and leadership skills, and a proven ability to produce accurate and timely estimates while managing a team of estimators.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of estimators, ensuring that they produce accurate and timely estimates in accordance with company standards.
  • Review opportunities with the Director of Preconstruction to ensure the backlog is filled and assign the project to the rest of the Estimating Team.
  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to prepare comprehensive and accurate estimates.
  • Work collaboratively with vendors, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure that estimates are based on the most up to date information.
  • Evaluate and select the most cost-effective materials, methods, and equipment for each project while utilizing the project specifications.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the estimating process to increase accuracy and efficiency.
  • Review all bids completed by estimators prior to submittal to ensure accuracy and completion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 10 plus years of experience in estimating electrical construction projects.
  • Experience working on large-scale industrial, commercial, and medical electrical construction projects is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and mentor a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical data and translate it into accurate project estimates.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Accubid, McCormick, Microsoft Office suite, etc.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
